Ant Problems in Bolton, Bury and Radcliffe.

Ants in the house are the scourge of many people in summer months leaving many people to fear the summer and the annual flying ants invasion which they realise the summer will herald

Only the unfortunate people who have suffered it will realise the true effects of flying ants in their homes.

Having an infestation of basic wingless ants is bad enough but when they go through their yearly mating phase the position can become unbearable.

Ants will form colonies in the sub-floor areas and in the wall cavities of our houses and these colonies will survive for many years if left untreated and become progressively more annoying every year.

Our houses are warm and dry and provide the ideal places for a growing ant colony; even solid asphalt floor is not a deterent to an ant.

Our house heating systems maintains their metabolism even in winter and my earliest ant job was on my birthday, in January!

Ants prefer a sandy soil and there are many areas in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester which tend to provide more ant problems than others, Southport, Blackpool, Bolton, Sale & Altrincham come to mind as regular ant spots.

Unfortunately it is during their mating phase that they are most irksome. Here in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester this tends to be pretty regularly around the middle of July.

Ants mate on the wing and around mid-summer the colony produces winged immature Queens and winged males which in nature would fly off and mate whilst flying. Many thousands of these flying ants are produced by each and nests tend to synchronise their production so that they mate with ants from neighbouring.

Usually this process starts after a couple of days of hot, dry weather and will usually continue for about acouple of weeks although smaller releases will continue throughout most of June, July & August.

Unfortunately when the nest is built under the floor of the house the results can be dreadful, literally thousands of winged ants are released into the lower rooms, collecting on windows as they head for the light.

This can be very distressing for some people leading to extreme emotional distress to the degree that people learn to dread the summertime and have actually left their homes to avoid the plague of ants which they know will appear each summer.

The colder summers of the last three years has meant that ant jobs were down on earlier but ants appear to have a way of catching up and 2010 could possibly be a particularly troublesome year.

Most people who have this problem opt for DIY solutions with potions from local outlets etc but mostly these efforts fail as they are not getting to the heart of the matter which is the colony itself, hidden away safely in the cavity wall or sub-floor area.

Fortunately for a lot of people the answer.

At Harrier Pest Prevention (subject to satisfactory site) we are able to cure this problem and issue an extendable three year guarantee.

The process which is done mainly from the outside of the property, is perfectly safe for animals and children and leaves no smell, involves drilling little holes into the cavity walls of the house, not unlike a damp-course injection and blowing a long lasting insecticide into the cavity wall under pressure.

This forms an impenetrable barrier across which the ants cannot move and along with a precautionary internal spray treatment (if deemed necessary) will gradually bring the problem to its end.

The holes, which are only 8mm in diameter are left open so it is a simple matter of topping up the cavity walls every 3 to extend the effectiveness of the guarantee in 3 year blocks.

This treatment is best done out in the early spring however it can be done all year round.

As a very limited time offer in our quiet period we are offering 25 percent off the usual price until May 30 2010. Whilst we usually cover the whole of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, we are able to venture further afield but this will be at extra cost.
