Does the Size of a Laptop Really Matter?
The question in computing has become, “Does size really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit all your productivity software and save as many movies as possible on your productivity machine?” Another issue may be whether the small sizes are more valuable or if the light-weight portability is the main issue. I think the accessibility of different types of computers in today’s day and age lets us really personalize our computers into something that works for us all and doesn’t have to be run of the mill for all.
The announcement of the state of the art macbookair by Apple has really given us a selection with the size and what kind of mobile computing device we take around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and less than an inch thick, we don’t have to strain our muscles every time we walk to school. It has a 13 inch flat panel and a standard-size keyboard. Who wouldn’t be interested? This is the very attribute I have been calling for.
When I first observed the advert for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to handle laptop coming out of that envelope, I was just amazed. Now, that’s the choice I’ve been looking for. Now it doesn’t have to be a major undertaking to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more heavy lifting, no longer taking up all that extra room! What a relief!
The age old question of whether size is important is in front of us now and my answer, when it comes to a tiny portable notebook computer is a reverberating, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter as well as weight. For me and my mobile computer smaller is as good as it gets.
