Travelling in a down economy
We all still need vacations even though we may be xperiencing hard financial times. Some of us simply may not be able to travel, howerver, some people still can but just may not be able to afford to spend as much as they typically are used to.
One way to save money is to keep the travel destination within driving distance. For instance, people living along the front range in Colorado have access to many destination resorts within a two hour drive.
Many travel destinations offer expensive luxury hotels, however, another alternative is to try looking for a Vacation Home Rentals. Search Internet listings of people who are offering up their homes on specific dates. These homes are often much cheaper than hotels especially when you travel with a big group. Vail Vacation Homes are one example of homes that often pop up on internet sites and classified sections of the newspaper.
Many destinations also have great deals that you can take advantage of. Some ski resorts have discounted their season passes by a lot to try and attract people who live close by as well.
If you have the money, it is also a good idea to buy a Vacation Rental Property and rent it out to people who will be taking advantage of these discounted rentals. Much of the Real Estate can be bought for under market value right now too. Then when the market comes back around you can sell it, but in the mean time make good money on your rental property.
